We always advise, if you want great wine, especially if you are new to the game, to find a great wine merchant. Someone who will listen, understand your taste, and offer a bottle or three that will fit your budget and occasion. May we recommend Hortense Bernard.
The Wine: Three Fabulous Bordeauxs
The Food: Delightful Small Bites by Craig Hopkins, Chef, Beautique
The Places: Bordeaux, FR; Millesima NY on the Upper East Side & Beautique, NYC.
We had the pleasure of meeting Hortense at a wine tasting hosted by Millesima at the restaurant Beautique.
She takes utter joy in working with her clientele at her shop on the Upper East Side. Nothing makes Hortense more happy than when a customer stops buy to say how wonderful the wine she recommend was enjoyed.
Very qualified for the task Hortense has been around wine all her life, she grew up in Bordeaux.
Her father Patrick Bernard founded Millesima in 1983 as a mail order wine company that has grown to become Europe's leading fine wine merchant. She also gained experience at the prestigious house Moet Hennessy Diageo.
Luckily for us, life brought her to New York to create the marvelous Millesima Wine Shop on the Upper East Side and head up Millesima USA, “Bringing Fine Wine To You.”
I believe her true passion has found a wonderful place to flourish here.
The wines? Yes they were fabulous, perfect representations of the main three areas of Bordeaux. Want to know more? Go see Hortense.
