Made with the best booze and fresh squeezed juice, these beauties are a variation of Negroni that is positively addictive. Here’s my recipe.
I made this drink in two stages. Starting with extracting the juice, and blending it in a large 20 ounce shaker with:
4 oz. Gin, I use New Amsterdam
4 oz. Cynar, we prefer this over Campari
4 oz Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, red vermouth
4 oz Cocchi Americano, a white vermouth
6 oz Red grapefruit juice
These were all chilled to begin with, I stirred without ice, and put the mixture in my freezer for an hour.
At the same time I cut some grapefruit wedges and froze them to use as a garnish.
For the second step, of course I chilled the glasses, and then poured two 4 oz portions of the mixture into a smaller shaker over good rocks and stirred for aeration.
Poured into the glasses and accented with a one drop each of Orange and Grapefruit bitters in each glass. Dropped in a frozen grapefruit wedge and served.
Warning, while the alcohol content in this version is lower than a standard Negroni, these are so delicious you’ll want to drink a few.
Be careful.
