Do you have trouble selecting wines at your local wine shop? I’ll admit I do, even with a decades of wine experience under my belt it is a challenge.

A major part of the problem is the complex state to state liquor laws that control the flow of wines from winemaker to your table in restricted distribution channels. But we can beat that.

We’ve offered a lot of tips over the years, like make friends with your wine seller, know the importer, and many other tricks. One we have not mentioned is to know the brand. Brand is certainly something we often use in making purchasing decisions, but not so often when it comes to wine. But we should, so think about this...Pernod Ricard.

Weekend in the Catskills, a Cabin, Restaurants, a Beautiful Lake, and much Gorgeous Scenery

There are so many charming little towns in the Catskills that many New Yorkers and Jerseyans are trading the over priced Hamptons and the Jersey Shore for great weekend and vacation spots in the mountains. We chose Deposit, NY because it was close to the summer camp where our son Pierce is working as a counselor this year. We rented a quaint cabin for two nights and explored the area enjoying the amazing quiet tranquility, beautiful vistas, star rich night sky and lots of great food.

Evening Kayaking on the Hudson Earns a Great Meal at Co. (Company) in Chelsea

Now here is something fun to do, evening kayaking on the Hudson River with Manhattan Kayaking Company. It is an exhilarating experience that works up a good appetite which we amply sated with amazing salads, several pizzas and great beer and wine at Jim Lahey’s perfect Co. (Company) restaurant in Chelsea.

The idea of going on the Hudson River in a tiny boat may sound daunting but believe me it is safe and fabulous fun.
