Sea Girt is one of our favorite spots on the Jersey Shore, it is within a short drive from Montclair, so it is our goto place for one day jaunts. One of the things that makes this beach great is the restrictions on commerce. There are no motels, hotels, or eating establishments near the beach which makes the beach a blissfull nirvana.
There is just one restaurant, The Parker House, which fortunately is a very good one. Here since 1878, open from May to the fall, Parker House's sweeping Victorian porches are a perfect place to enjoy a meal. Inside the surprisingly massive bar areas are a great place to chill and party.
The staff here, from the pretty hostesses to the attentive bus boys, are friendly and accomodating. Our waitress was great. This is a place you are happy to leave a generous tip.
We grazed on two salads and the crab cake appetizer which were very satisfying.
Crab cakes, freshly homemade, with lots of tender meat, served with a pungent Cajun Remoulade.
Executive Chef James T. Adams joined The Parker House this year, he brings 18 years of purposeful experience in the world of fine cuisine, his specialty of Mediterranean seafood dishes is perfect at the Jersey Shore.
This simple lettuce wedge, The House Wedge, is served with crunchy applewood bacon, fresh tomato, creamy crumbled blue cheese and a balsamic vinagrette.
Diana had the Beacon Boulevard Steak Salad, which is an ample serving of tender steak, cooked to your preference over fresh greens with crumbled bleu cheese, caramelized walnuts, craisins, with a blue cheese vinaigrette.
Looks good, right? It was.
I had a house Chardonnay with my salad and crab cakes, they feature the great Italian producer Zonin.
Despite concern for your summer beach figure you are unlikely to escape without yielding to the temptations offered by the Parker House Dessert Tray.
We indulged in the Chocolate Bomb Cake, soooo delicious.
In the back of the house is the outdoor raw bar. At night there is a massive bar scene at the " the multi level bar and club is packed with tons of young locals, visiting singles, twenty somethings, thirty somethings and up."
