You have to love the American marketing genius of holidays. Seems we have one for just about everything. Everyday another reason to buy more stuff.
Today is one of my favorites, National Martini Day. But, trust me I won’t be imbibing until much later today. I can’t find the origin of this holiday but we can certainly write about the Martinis we like.
One martini is all right. Two is two many, and three is not enough.” — James Thurber -
James Bond famous line “Shaken Not Stirred.”
I prefer shaken myself, bracingly cold and with little chips of ice floating about.
Is James Bond’s favorite, his own recipe.
As described in the 1953 book: 'Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?
I love a good Vodka Marini, Tito’s or Kettle One are my go to vodkas.
I like a good splash of high quality vermouth and garnished with two olives and a cocktail onion. These have to be very good quality too, Sable & Rosenfeld Tipsy is my go to brand for this.
I actually use glasses just like this.
Some others I’ve enjoyed along the way.
I came across this delicious cocktail at the sexy Temple Downtown Lounge in the Renaissance Hotel during a recent trip with my son to see RISD in Providence, RI.
It is a fun cocktail called Greek Salad Martini and is great for summer sipping
Is a wonderful variation on the classic. Calls for Gin but a good sweet Vodka like Prairie or Belvedere are great.
Stir ingredients and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a generously peeled lemon twist, and take a moment to appreciate liberté, égalité et fraternité.
Here is a perfect response to our times.
Looking to save some money, yet have some fun? Want to cut back a little on your alcohol and calorie consumption? Still want to make a splash at your next party?
There really is a difference. Dolin is our go to brand.
I love to do taste tests with my guests. Once you have compared you’ll never drink cheap vermouth again.
Some of our inventions include:
Our 2010 Christmas Cocktail - Pomegranate and Lime Martini
love it when I can combine something really healthy like Pomegranate juice and well who says good Vodka is not good for you. Anyway the red and green colors add to the holiday spirit. The drink is delicious and will add life to any party, even a party of one.
