We are very lucky in America, especially here in our greater New York Metro area, able to enjoy a world of world class wines.
With so much to choose from, so many great wines, I've let French wines drop off my radar. But this spring they have become much more than a blip, they are in full focus as French wine makers bring their bright message to the States.
FIAF wines events, and many tastings in and around our fair city have afforded great opportunities to revive our love of French wines.
Now, you certainly know Bordeaux, with all its wonderful appellations, but do you know Cotes De Bordeaux? You should.
We tasted many wines and enjoyed glorious food.

I particularly enjoyed tasting and discussing wine with Olivier Sulzer. His was a 100% Merlot from Château Tertre de Belvès La Bonnelle.
"A wonderfully ripe wine characterized by a pure, persistent black
fruit and spicy aroma with very fine tannins. An ‘Iconic’ wine from 100% Merlot planted on a tiny parcel on the southern slopes of Belves de Castillon."
Also very notable were two wines from Château La Croix Saint-Pierre presented by Patrick Pouvatchy.
Truly, all the wines were very enjoyable and offer tremendous value. Most are at price points in the $15 to $20 range. Check www.vinquire.com or www.wine-searcher.com with the phrase Cotes De Bordeaux to find wines near you.
Another favorite of the day is one I am hoping makes it to the states soon. The wines of Chateau Godard Bellevue – Francs Cotes de Bordeaux presented by Margaux Arbo of Diva Wine USA.
