I had a completely incorrect impression of this fabulous French Lebanese restaurant, at the time it opened I said to myself "another middle eastern restaurant, don't we have enough?" Boy was I wrong...
As the proprietors of this wonderful place say "Uncle Moustache is not any Middle Eastern Restaurant, the story, the people, and the motivation behind it will open new horizons for Middle Eastern Food everywhere." They are true to their word.
Montclair could never have too many restautants like this.
From the moment we stepped in, I felt as though I was suddenly in the Left Bank of Paris, at one of the wonderful inspired Middle Eastern restaurants there. The transformation remained as we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and lingered on through a leisurely dessert.
Popped open a beautiful red wine from Spain, Eccomi a sumptious blend of Marselan, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Merlot, more Fench than Spanish, which was good. More on this wine coming.
We then enjoyed very tender and tasty grilled lamb chops with frites, and a very fresh chopped salad.
I had a special chicken tangine which was as good as any I have had including tangines we've enjoyed in Paris and Marrakesh.Chicken falling off the bone and surrounded by
a lucious sauce and green olives.
Need proof? My criteria for judging chicken is this, nothing left but the bones.
The music and relaxed cool vibe and decor of this place is so comfortable. We enjoyed our corner table as the restaurant filled to capacity, unusual in Montclair on a Thursday night.
We rarely have dessert but did not want to leave, so had this creamy, sweet and tart yogurt dish with fresh fruit.

I love Uncle Moustache. The Tunisian eggs on the brunch menu are great. The veggie moussaka is delicious. The crepes.....ahhh! Glad you discovered it.
