One of our favorite taphouses in New Jersey is Taphouse Grille in Wayne. On the 14th they hosted a mighty Dogfish Head Brewery "Tap Takeover" . We got there a day late but there was still plenty to choose from, 16 of Taphouse Grills's 24 taps were running Dogfish Head's fabulous beers and barley wines.
Started off with this exotic barley wine called Olde School. It's fermented with dates and figs. So smooth, just fabulous, I savored it to the end of our meal while tasting 3 other brews.
And Asian Fried Calamari with sweet chili sauce, shredded lettuce, sesame seeds.
Diana enjoyed one of our favorite DFH Ales, 90 Minute IPA, a beer that Esquire Magazine calls "perhaps the best IPA in America."
I also had a Barton Baton, an oak-aged brew that is created in batches, an English-style old ale and an imperial IPA and then blended.
We needed one more dish, something crispand fresh and were very pleased with the Baby Beet Salad with shaved fennel, goat cheese chive mousse, arugula, orange dijon vinaigrette.
The most exciting beer of the evening was one created in honor of the 40th anniversary of Bitches Brew, the Miles Davis landmark album.
This beer is a bold, dark masterpiece unto itself, made infusion of imperial stouts and honey beer with gesho root.
