What do you think of when you're looking to pair a wine with an Asian dish? Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc? Probably not a Rose. But this wine from South Africa was absolutely perfect.
The wine is from the highly regarded Mulderbosch vineyard in the hills surrounding Stellenbosch, South Africa. We have always loved their wines.
This Cabernet Sauvignon Rose portrays the vital living in this area. It has a provoctive pink colour that looks beautiful in the glass. On the nose you get scents of ripe blood-orange and cherry candy. As you sip, and do it with food, this is such a great food wine, the flavors unfold with woody fruit and lemon cherry black currant flavors. Lots of crisp acidity makes this wine pleasingly zesty.
