You really don't know New York City until you have biked or strolled along the Hudson River in the beautiful Hudson River Park. This weekend we biked the lower half from 22nd street all the way south to Battery Park. This route is filled with endless surprises.
On our way back our ride took us through SOHO and into the West Village for a stop at the new Italian food extravaganza, Agata and Valentina, and then on to a favorite spot Gottino for brunch sitting a table away from Amanda Seyfried and friend. It was a beautiful day.
There is also the enchanting Irish Hunger Memorial that looks strangely out of place under the shadow of the rising Freedom Tower yet so very moving once you enter and experience it.
Further south you will find the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Living Memorial to the Holocaust and many other sights. On the lighter side there are often sail boats on the river and many active people enjoying the park.
The ride is an easy one down to the tip, heading back north we went east into SOHO that was bustling with activity. Then up through Washington Square Park to University where we checked out the new store with the name Agata & Valentina, a pair that " has inspired New York foodies since 1993." It was quite impresive.
Time for lunch and our next destination was the new Rosemary’s Enoteca & Trattoria at 18 Greenwich St. a "charming farmhouse of wine and hearty Italian-ness from the folks behind Bobo (and a chef from Eataly)." But they were not opening until dinner.
So we went up the block to one of our NY favorites Gottino and enjoyed a wonderful brunch.
Here you see eggs sunny side up with pancetta and sage and steamed scarmbled with creme fraiche and smoked salmon. With this we had some really good espresso and a very nice lager from Forst of Southern Tyrol, Italy.
As we sat one of my favorite actors wandered in, Amanda Seyfried who you may remember from Big Love or Mamma Mia or many other roles. That was fun.
