Twin Light Taphouse in Highlands, NJ is a a real destination for beer lovers and foodies alike. In what looks from the outside a little like a dive bar, that you might want to pass by, Twin Light is actually a warm and inviting place that you won't want to leave..
Our third visit here confirms Twin Light as the best place for craft beers that we know of in NJ. The beers are spectacular, always something new, and the food is great.
They bill themselves as a "gastro-pub" style restaurant with rotating local craft beers on tap, a growing bottled beer list, and a interesting and flavorful menu of bar food as well as full dinners and brunch."
The beers on tap are always changing, you can count on the selection always being fresh good.
Os far we have had mostly bar menu items like the delicious Drunken Clams local Little Necks in a seasonal brew with rich garlic and butter. We have had them twice. And the excellent Taphouse Style Grilled Chicken Wings. We have also enjoyed their pulled pork sliders and specials like Watermelon Gazpacho or Chicken Tacos with Mediteranean spices and herbs.
The Dinner Menu looks very good and the Brunch pretty darn good too. We can't wait to get back to try these.

Named after the majestic Navesink Twin Lights that sit 200 feet high on the Highlands. "These lights stood as a sentinel over the treacherous coastal waters of northern New Jersey from 1828 to 1949. As the primary seacoast light for New York Harbor, it was the best and brightest light on the Atlantic Coast for generations of seafarers. Many a life and cargo were saved by the sweep of its beacons." Twin Lights History
While at the taphouse we had a chance to speak to Mark behind the bar. He is incredibly knowledgeable about his beers and the topic in general.
Twin Lights has special events like the Belgian Independence Day event coming up on July 21st which will feature all Belgian Beers. Or their special Firkin like the Blue Point Hoptical Illusion Firken opening this past June 21st.
