Over the past year I have gotten very excited again about Austria Wines.
I loved many light bright Grueners over the summer and have also been really enjoying Austrian reds like St. Laurent, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. There also beautiful Rieslings as well as Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) coming from this country. Austrian Wines by Manoavino
Our friends at Snooth made some great suggestions in a recent article Great Austrian Reds A guide to going beyond Gruners.
A great way to learn about Austrian Wines and Austrian Culture is with a special that the wonderful people at 67th Street Wines in NY are running ......
67 Wines is running a promotion with the 90 Austrian wines they have in stock, including, but not limited to, the wines in the ad above.
Purchase six or more Austrian wines and receive A Wine and Music Rendezvous CD for free.
67 Wines is stocked with inexpensive, but delicious Austrian wine so trying something different doesn’t mean you have to break the bank this holiday season.
To explore the full CD you will taste 9 wines: Sekt, Gelber Muskateller, Greuner Veltliner classic, Gruener Veltliner Reserve, Riesling, Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch and an Austrian dessert wine.
Each wine is paired with three classic melodies that can be listened to at any length you choose (with the exception of the Sekt which is only paired with one song.) Each participant will taste the wine while listening to the three songs. At the end of the set, each person will then choose the song they feel best matched the wine. For example, Riesling is described as “brilliant and spirited” is that best paired with R. Schumann’s 3rd Symphony, 1st movement, J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, 1st movement or J. Brahms 4th Symphony, 1st movement? It’s entirely subjective, but it’s interesting to see people’s choices.
In short, the CD is a fun way to bring the family together for the holidays. Perhaps an after-meal activity for a good laugh and some quality time together?
Hi Peter –
That was most definitely an eclectic promotion, and provided another context to enjoy wine. Thank you for writing this piece and we hope to see you this fall, or sooner! Give us a call or email (melissa at 67wine.com) and let us know if we can help with any wine need or inquiry.
Best,
Melissa
