New entries on the Montclair restaurant scene are generating some nice buzz.
I hear that Plum on Park the new place that has quietly opened up in the little diner across from the YMCA on Park Street is quite good. Word is the new owners redcorated the place, formerly Greek Delights, very nicely and are serving up some very good food. The website is coming soon, http://www.plumonpark.com/. If you stop by please post a comment and let us know how Plum is. Read our review here
Others include Salute, Southern Belle and Four Seasons Kabob House.
Salute, Brick Oven Bistro, the place at the corner of Glenridge and North Willow, that had been opening soon for over a year, actually opened last month. Friends say after a shaky start the food is quite good, one big complaint though is the noise level it is apparently deafening when the place is full. More on Salute from Montclair Patch here and Yelp and Baristanet.
This Friday we are going to try Southern Belle, the new place that moved into space where Table 8 was. They are serving up a nice looking menu of southern style goodies. Which raises the challenge what wine goes best with southern food. I will have some recommendations for you by Sunday. Initial reviews on Urban Spoon and Yelp are favorable.
The last is Four Seasons Kabob House. I have to ask what is it about upper montclair, now we have 3 places serving Middle Eastern, 4 Japanese, no more Italian, and a burger place we just keep waiting and waiting for, Five guys. Can we get a little more variety?
I have not tried Four Seasons yet, I like Jackie's and Falafel Hut. But one comment on Yelp gives it a nice review. The front of the restaurants is covered with signs promoting their specials. Sorry, but that always makes me nervous. But, we will try it soon.
Meanwhile, we just keep going to Raymond's our perpetual favorite, Ah Pizz, TS Ma and Dai Kichi or New York. And I did really like our last visit to Passionne.
