At last they have opened. Months of anticipation has obviously created much demand as crowds of hungry men, woman, boys and girls clammer for a taste of Montclair's latest burger joint.
As i sink my teeth into my "everything" burger I wonder will it be all that that they say. Best darn burger in the world.
Very good, still rate Shake Shack in NYC better but here in the burbs, this is pretty close to perfection.
Judging by the happy crowd, seems I am not alone enjoying these great burgers.
The meat is lean and tender. Not greasy. I like that. The rolls are rich and bready, dense with lots of flavor. There are all kinds of toppings. Dream up any burger you like.
Fries are very good. Fresh, cooked just right. I love the malt vinegar they provide.
Free peanuts to keep you busy while you wait. Allergic? Stay away.
The flow of the room is rather awkward and down right maddening when they are busy. Odd background music.
At the end of the day I think I like Elevation in Montclair a little better, but as my son says why drive all the way downtown when you get a burger this good in our north end of the hood.

Hey John,
You don't work for Elevation Burger by any chance?
Our experience was totally different.

gah! I found the burger to be a tough greasy mess, the bun wet, and the fries had a pool of grease at the bottom of the cup that was really off putting. On my second visit I found the experience to be identical, hoping that I was that one customer who had a bad experience. Elevation Burger remains my burger place, Five Guys will just be a place I go for a clean toilet should I find myself in need of one.

Not on Friday night. I know rock and roll. On Friday they were playing something that sounded like Celtic folk music.
