Do you ever think about what you'ld like in "heaven" or planned what you would absolutely have to have if you found your self alone on an isolated tropical island or in a secluded cabin in the mountains. Your list may be long or sparse but I am sure it has a few essentials.
This topic was discussed in What To Drink With What You Eat by Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page, The Definitive Guide to Pairing Food with Wine, Beer, Spirits, Coffee, Tea — Even Water — Based on Expert Advice from America's Best Sommeliers. "In the final chapter they invited sommeliers to select their 'desert island' wines, and the results are a wonderful. Indeed, if your island retreat comes equipped with a good refrigerator, a Wolf stove and a set of Calphalon." Patrick Comiskey, Los Angeles Times
My list would include this wonderful wine Kellerei Cantina Terlano Vorberg Riserva Pinot Bianco.
Pinot Bianco (Italian) or Pinot Blanc (French & America) is a relatively rare grape. You don't see it often on wine shop shelves. It is grown mainly in northern Italy, Alsace, France, some in California and the Northwest states. It is also found in Germany, where it is known as Weißer Burgunder or Weißburgunder. It is also produced in Hungary and Austria.
The wine produced from this grape is usually a full-bodied dry white wine that can be either dry or sweet. I love its delicious fruity apples and melon aroma. The acidity is crisp which contrasts with the round stone fruit flavors for a delightful mouth-filling experience. These wines are usually made for drinking now not for cellaring.
This Pinot Bianco is an exceptional example of how good this grape can be. Along with the fruit and bright acidity this wine has a enticing and satisfying moss flavor.
It is made by the well regarded Cooperative of Terlano which was founded in 1893. The members are very dedicated to their craft and "today it has over 100 associates trained and specialized in natural viticulture." Web Site
The coopeartive is represented in the US by the fine importer Banville & Jones.
