While shopping at Kings in Upper Montclair I was intrigued by a very happy person offering samples of a nice looking Fair Trade Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Great Olive Oil is an essential staple of our kitchen, we favor Santini Extra Virgin that we buy at Trader Joes. It is a very good inexpensive olive oil.
I have been looking for somethng at a more premium level without a high price. The last find was from Australia but went out of stock at TJ's before I could buy more.
This oil may become a new favorite.
Produced in Argentina where many fine wines are grown, it is only natural.
This very fine, delicious oil is brought to the United States by Interrupcion Fair Trade, "a stakeholder community that is working to build a sustainable future through responsible consumption, sustainable development, organic farming and fair trade."
They are building "a model of trade and global interaction between consumers, businesses and producers that positively impacts the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the world."
They "began as a non-profit organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina dedicated to promoting socially responsible business and citizen participation in response to the dramatic Argentine economic collapse in 2001." Through their many community projects and awareness campaigns they witnessed the amazing change that is possible when individuals come together for the common good of society."
"This organic, extra-virgin olive oil has a delicate flavor profile characterized by its fresh, fruity taste and smooth finish. Perfect for salads, dipping and for accenting finished meals. Crafted with 100% USDA certified organic olives cultivated alongside the Andean foothills of La Rioja that are handpicked and cold-pressed within 24 hours of harvest." Organic Olive Oil
Give it a try.
Without a doubt Italian is the best.

Peter,
I have strayed too long!
My apologies.
Wine is your thing, olive oil is mine.
The best olive oils are from Italy in my opinion. I love the Sicilian ones ($$$) like fine wine.
Right now I am using (drinking!) Carlo from Liguria, in Genoa. Yum.
Happy Holidays
Stacey
