Hey, I am one lucky guy. Got a year of great wine with Amanti Vino's Wine Club for my birthday. Hurray.
As you may have noticed I have very eclectic taste in wines. When I visit Amanti I am in like a kid in a candy shop . They have such a great selection of interesting wines and this is shared well in their wines of the month.
Started off with the September Club Goda selections of a Spanish wine, Primativo Quiles Raspay, 100% Monastrell. And an Italian, Cantina del Taburno “Torlicoso”, 100% Aglianico.
Last night I tasted the Torlicoso with my own Spaghetti and Meatballs. It was a good wine for this dish, although I prefer a good Chianti with my S & M.
I do agree with the Amanti writer who says "I enjoyed the Cantina Del Taburno ‘Torlicoso’ last night with a quick and simple bowl of Spaghetti alla Puttanesca. It was out of this world! The combination of the Aglianico’s rich dark fruit notes, strong earthy notes and nice acidity paired sublimely with the Puttanesca’s salty, spicy, and fragrant notes."
This Aglianico shows a lot more finesse than others I have tasted. It is smooth with light free tannins. Inside the rich fruit I get honey carrots and pecans, a little bit of a dried herbal flavor. It is a very interesting and satisfying wine. It is produced almost exclusively in Southern Italy where it thrives in the hot climate there. Torlicoso comes from a tiny commune of Foglianise in the Province of Benevento in the Italian region Campania. Under the shadow of Mount Taburno fine wines have been made there with great pride for over 2,000 years.
May try the Primativo Quiles Raspay over the weekend.
Hello everyone,
I am spanish and i had a look to Amanti Vino´s online shop.
Well, they have a typical representation of spanih wines, although not very extensive (Above all in Ribera Del Duero designation, where you can only find "Pingus" and that it´s not a wine for my pocket...)
Shop is very interesting anyway. Congratulations!!
