Here is one of the best Pinot Gris (Pinot Grigio) I have tasted in some time.
Produced by excellent Hungarian winery, Nyakas Cellars.
We have raved about their Olivier in previous posts and were delighted to find this wine by Nyakas at Home Liquors in Verona for under $8.00.
The wine is produced in the lush Etyek-Buda region of Hungary that has a centuries old tradition of making wine. Thanks to wine makers like Nyakas the wonder wines from this region are gaining the recognition they deserve.
This Pinot Gris is a rich and flavorful example. The depth of flavor is a result of letting the grapes ripen on the vine longer. The Buda Hungary terroir gives the wine an interesting forest, earthy essence. Yet it has crisp and clean fruit appearing free of any oak.
