Met friends for dinner here on Saturday.
The AAA Five Diamond rated, classic luxury restaurant, still delivers exquisite cuisine through the efforts of Dennis Franke's, Chef de Cuisine, market driven menu.
In other respects it seems to have passed it's prime.
The Dinning Room was not busy on this rainy Saturday night, yet it took too long to receive attention, water, menus. Etc. from the wait staff. Others around us seemed to be complaining of slow service as well.
The wine list, worthy of royalty in its scope, is absurdly expensive, and with no Sommollier present, it became an awkward part of the diner. We tried two whites from their by the glass list, a Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse and a Tommassi Pinot Grigio. Both were just fair. With dinner we had a 1995 Margaux, the least expensive Boordeaux on the list, it was fine.
The food was delicious, without a doubt, Dennis Franke, Chef de Cuisine of The Dining Room, does exquisite work in the kitchen. We enjoyed every dish.
It is a shame that other aspects of the restaurant do not measure up.
