Have not dined a Taro for many years, having given up on it after several tries when it first opened.
Had heard some favorable comments so we decided to give it another try.
I really want to love this restaurant. It has beautiful decor, very cool and calming. The attractive staff do all they can to make the dining experience a pleasure. The food is beautifully prepared, interesting, and all sounds delicious on the menu.
But, at the first bite it all falls down. The dishes are simply not wonderful. We tasted the Asian summer roll with shrimp, rice noodles, basil, peanut, and bland. Edamame dumplings, beautifully formed into little green stars, I should have just saved them to look at. A special of Scallops and Black Cod in Tibetan Sweet Red Sauce, the sauce was nice but the fish was not fresh. The Taro Fries were tasty and came with a nice sauce, The highlight of the meal. We had one other dish I don't remember.
Oh well, will not be back here any time soon.
I was there a few years back.
This Soho style restaurant just doesn't live up to it's potential.
