Found a new favorite Asian restaurant.
Have tried it three times now for lunch and dinner.
Saigon House, Vietnamese, in East Hanover.
Saigon House has Closed - There is a Thai restaurant there now.
Located in a small strip center on 10 West in East Hanover, but once you step in Saigon House manages to carry you away to another place and culture. Simply but attractively decorated with the traditional bamboo hut by the door and cheerful wait staff attired in colorful Asian attire.
The food is delicious and I believe authentic.
Have tried the Goi Cuon - Summer Rolls, rice paper wrapped with shrimp, sliced pork, shredded lettuce, rice vermicelli, and mint herbs, served with peanut dipping sauce. I wish the rice paper rolls at Taro were this good.
Bo Bia - Jicama Rolls, rice paper wrapped with vegetables, eggs, dried shrimps, jicama, and herbs, served with peanut sauce. Fresh, crisp and tasty.
Banh Xeo - Vietnamese Pancake, Vietnamese crepe, pan-seared rice flour filled with shrimp, pork, and bean sprout, served with fresh vegetables and authentic Vietnamese sauce. Will order this again.
Bo Luc Lac - Rock and Roll Beef, sauteed cubes of flank steak served over fresh lettuce. A real favorite my kids would even like this.
Com Hen Tay Cam - Baby Clams Rice in Clay-Pot, baby clams, ground pork, mushrooms. Served in a traditional clay pot with Jasmine rice, delicious but a little too exotic for my taste.
And a special Curried Fish Stew with Okra. Very very good and I don't usually like Okra.
All were very delicious and reasonably priced.
For wine we had the Blank Pinot Blanc, previously reviewed, and a terrific Chilean, Pinot Nori. Leyda, Las Brisas, from Amanti Vino.
"Pinot Noir Las Brisas Vineyard has a clean and direct fruity nose with red cherries, hints of raspberries and a subtle wild herb note. Delicate and refined on the palate. Juicy with ripe flavours of berries combined with mineral notes and a lively acidity." Wine Maker.
