With all the buzz that has surrounded Scott Conant's restaurant there seems little to add.
Dining on a Saturday night in New York in the Summer has advantages.
Enjoying this extrodinary restaurant without the usual crowds was a real pleasure.
Alto, which is both a reference to Alta Cucina (the term for highly refined Italian cuisine) and to Northern Italy, from which chef Conant draws considerable inspiration for Alto’s menu, spares nothing to deliver an exquisite dinning experience.
It is very close to "400%". See Passione post.
We decided to indulge in the Tasting Menu of the evening. It is typically seven courses with wines for each course offered as well. To our good fortune, the friends we dined with knew the owners of Alto so our tasting became closer to 11.
Each dish was more amazing then the last.
But my true acclamation goes to the sommelier of the evening, a young woman from Texas. I am sorry I did not get her name.
Her selection of wines after a few minutes of consultation was exquisite.
