I've started drinking a lot of of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc's this year -- they ALL seem to use screw caps and are absolutely wonderful. I used to be pretty wary of screw caps until now (primarily out of snobbery), but I currently don't hesitate buy bottles sealed this way. The times ... they are a-changin'.

When I'm selling wines with screwcap the good way to talk about it is "think about a Mason jar". It is the same type of seal.

Screwcaps are far more popular in the UK, and that has been driven very much by the major supermarkets. Customers have got used to them as they've realised the benefits.

I think it's a weird kind of un-informed snobbery which keeps people from loving screwcaps.
