Tocai Friuliano

In a little know section of Northern Italy, Friuli, are found the wine areas of Collio and Colli Orientali. They border Slovenia to the east, and the warmer Adriatic to the south.

Many very fine and unique wines are produced there, a Tocai Friuliano was enjoyed over the last two nights.

Live Well To Live Long

Did you read Frank Bruni's article in the Week in Review Section of today's NY Times? I loved it.

Entitled Be Merry, Not Ancient, the New York Times Food Critic offers great perspective on recent recommendations on daily diet from the Journal of American Medicine.

If your concerned about having another glass of wine tonight, with a nice steak, read this article. I think you'll feel better in many ways.

The article mentions an old proverb "He lives long who lives well."

Kosher Wines For Passover

We celebrate almost all holidays in our household. Including Passover which comes soon.

Wine is an important part, of this Jewish celebration. I love wine, so count me in.

But mention good Kosher wine and you may get a perplexed look or laughter in response.

For years the sweet Kosher wine by Manischewitz was the only choice for Passover and it left many asking for an iced tea instead. However today a world of world class Kosher wines are being produced. Many are available here in New Jersey.

The Other not the "Others"

If you are a "Lost" fan like me you know all about or nothing about the "Others." I offer no clarification here.

Rather I'd like to introduce you to an interesting California blend called "The Other."

Have an Epiphany

Syrah or Shiraz if your from down under has become my latest favorite grape.

Some think we can thank Guy De'Sterimberg for Syrah, who brought it back from the city Shiraz in Persia (Iran), when returning to France from a Crusade. However, it turns out that this is just a fanciful legend as described below. 

Syrah is used to make deep fruity flavorful wine.
